Prayer for Vocations
Oblates of St. Francis de Sales are invited to pray for an increase in responses to vocations every first Thursday of the month. The Oblates encourage all people to join us in fervent prayer for those discerning a call to serve the Church as a religious priest, brother or sister and all those currently in formation (Constitution 36).

God,
From the beginning of time your call has gone forth throughout all the ages. At the dawn of creation you called forth life from a lifeless world. You called Abraham to be your friend and through him you called a people that you held close to your heart.
In the fullness of time, when your people were lost and could not find their way to you, you sent your Son, Jesus, one like us in all things but sin. He called women and men to follow you and to imitate his way of life. Through the power of the Holy Spirit working in these men and women you have inspired people of all races, languages and ways of life to know, love and follow you by living lives of service to your Gospel.
We ask you God, to inspire men to be aware of and respond to the needs of your Church for priests and brothers who will faithfully serve your people and heal the Church by their generous hearts and hopeful ideals. Give these men the strength to come forward. Free them from fear and give them true gentleness and strength in their desire to “Live Jesus” as Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales.

Bless those who are under temporary vows and all in formation. Bless the Oblate Associates as they continue considering Oblate life as an option. Finally, give the optimism and joy of Francis to all Oblates that they may inspire vocations by the way they live their lives. Amen.
